DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND adopts pharmaceutical CRM solution from update software AG
Interdepartmental transparency with update.sevenMunich, September 1, 2008 +++ DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND GmbH, the German subsidiary of the third-largest Japanese pharmaceutical company, has successfully adopted the pharmaceutical CRM system from update software AG. update software AG is one of the leading European producers of CRM solutions. It is headquartered in Vienna. More than 400 employees of DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND -- including more than 350 on the sales force -- are now using the Web-based version of the CRM solution update.seven in a variant that was developed specially for the pharmaceutical industry. At DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND, update.seven serves the purposes of main data and key account management, visit planning and documentation, and multi-level campaign and event management, among other things. Bucking the trend towards eliminating sales positions, DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND has grown significantly; in August, it took over approximately 130 employees from the Primary Care sales force of Merck Pharma GmbH. With approximately 1800 employees, DAIICHI SANKYO EUROPE achieved net sales of EUR 482 million in 2007.
Simone Mai is the project director for the CRM introduction at DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND GmbH. She explains why, after detailed presentations by three CRM suppliers, the decision was made to select update: "The result was clear: all of our project participants -- both the sales force and inside sales -- voted unanimously for update. update.seven was able to map all the required processes that we had defined in detail in our specifications, and many things were already standard with update. The quality of the pharmaceutical-specific CRM solution won us over, as did the price." Today, it’s not just all the sales force employees who have access to the Web-based system that DAIICHI SANKYO DEUTSCHLAND is having hosted by an external provider; all the employees in inside sales do too. "Our CRM system is used very actively today," reports Simone Mai, "also as a communication platform for customer inquiries. This way, interdepartmental transparency reigns."
