The update.seven ERP Connector (recently developed with our partner SN@P Consulting) has just been certified for SAP NetWeaver. In its first release, it implements bi-directional, error-tolerant synchronization of the Business Partner entity (mapped to Companies and Person in update.seven) between the CRM and SAP ERP 2005, in both synchronous and asynchronous modes. Failure notifications are presented to the user in real-time via pop-up windows. SAP XI 3.0 is the middleware used for the certified package.

It is important to note that the interface logic (mapping, error-handling etc…) is contained entirely in the XI content package. The interfaces on the update.seven side are assumed to be in out-of-the-box state, and might need to be adapted to the customer’s particular data model. Most changes will be configured within XI itself. Of course, the provided reference interfaces can be used as “best-practice” patterns for further custom interfaces.
The ERP Connector will be continually extended to cover relevant interface scenarios between update.seven and the most common SAP ERP industry solutions, the main focus being on IS-U, IS-M, IS-U, IS-T, IS-SP and IS-R. We will re-certify the package at regular intervals to ensure product quality and relevance.
The overall goal of the update.seven ERP Connector is to minimize project effort and promote interface standardization by providing preconfigured services, process building blocks and complete technical documentation. Coupled with the powerful auto-generation functionality of update.seven web services, it frees up development resources and allows the building of complex interfaces in acceptable timeframes.
The update.seven ERP Connector relies on SAP XI for enterprise-level middleware functionality such as data mapping, message queuing, transformation, routing and monitoring. This helps to ensure a robust and manageable integration of your update.seven solution within your SAP-based SOA environment.
